Swimmers

In harmonious movement this piece seems to glide across the wall, through light and shadow it somehow seems apart from the wall and takes on a life of its own. It goes beyond the static nature of its corten steel and transforms into a new dynamic. These swimmers are handmade pieces from Hamburger artist Gisela Buchholz who likes to work with the nature and movement of the human body as her theme. She explores abstract "body-worlds" with diverse materials such as steel and bronze to make small or overdimensional sculptures that cross normal boundaries.
